Welcome to The Temple of the Lotus
Designed for a small cohort of women artists, The Temple of the Lotus is an intimate residency that blends contemporary creative practice with the rich artistic and cultural traditions of Bali.
Over fourteen days, Resident Artists will explore sacred places, learn from local artisans, develop their own creative practice and experience Bali through a deeply immersive lens.
This is more than a residency.

Inspired by Bali
Throughout the residency we will explore the artistic and cultural heart of Bali through guided visits to sacred temples, heritage sites and traditional artisan villages.
Together we'll discover the symbolism woven through Balinese architecture, sculpture, ritual and daily life, allowing these experiences to inform and deepen our own creative practice.

Local Artist Workshops
At the heart of The Temple of the Lotus is the opportunity to experience Bali’s extraordinary creative traditions first-hand.
Throughout the residency, Resident Artists will take part in a curated series of hands-on workshops with local Balinese artists and artisans, exploring traditional practices including batik, pottery and wood carving.
These experiences offer more than an introduction to technique. They are an opportunity to learn about the stories, symbolism, materials and cultural traditions that have shaped generations of Balinese makers.
Alongside these workshops, we’ll take inspiration into the landscape through nature-immersed sketching, watercolour and observational drawing, allowing the colours, textures, architecture and natural beauty of Bali to influence your own evolving creative practice.
Learn. Observe. Experiment. Create.
No previous experience in these practices is required — simply curiosity and a willingness to explore.

Meet. Learn. Create.
Connect with local Balinese artists, discover new ways of making and experience creativity through a different cultural lens. From traditional techniques to contemporary practice, each encounter is an opportunity to learn new skills, exchange ideas and be inspired by the people, stories and artistic traditions of Bali.

A Letter from Your Host
Aly Trezise | Artist • Arts Educator • Creative Mentor
Art has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. For almost 30 years, I have worked as an artist, arts educator, creative leader and passionate advocate for the Arts in Education, teaching and mentoring across Australia and internationally.
My career has taken me around the world, working within diverse cultures and creative communities, but one belief has remained constant: art gives us a voice.
And I believe deeply in the power of the woman's voice in art — our stories, experiences, identities, transitions and the way we see and interpret the world deserve to be explored, expressed and seen.

Alongside my work in the Arts, I am the Founder of Hello Lotus Wellness and work as a Women's Transformational Coach, supporting women as they navigate change, rediscover themselves and imagine what might come next.

The Temple of the Lotus brings these two worlds together.

It is everything I love about art, travel, culture, teaching and mentoring — but with the freedom to slow down, get curious, learn from one another and simply create.

I can't wait to welcome you to Bali and discover what unfolds.

Yours,

Aly x
